Why it is plain HTML
The site has to be editable for years, by hand, and understandable when I open it again. A page of HTML still reads as a page. A framework would hide that. Search, a database, and a content system can wait until there are enough notes to justify them. There are not, yet.
The public address is www.ougennsei.me. The files in this project are the site. There is no build step.
The visual system
I wanted a magazine and a lab notebook, not a template full of cards. The page is warm paper, the text is ink, links are rust, and ochre is used only as a thin mark. Headings use a serif face that ships with the computer. Body text uses the system sans serif. Nothing is loaded from a font service.

- Rust #7A3E2A
- Ochre #C6A36A
The drawing on the front page is original. It is Figure 01 of the temperature project, not a stock photograph.
What the files are for
warren_public_html/ ├── index.html ├── about.html ├── now.html ├── work/ ├── journal/ ├── reading/ ├── css/ ├── js/main.js └── assets/
Colors, type, and the page width live as variables at the top of css/style.css. Changing them changes the site in one place. css/responsive.css holds the narrow-screen rules. js/main.js does three things only: the menu, the language, and the project filter.
What I left out
No React. No blog engine. No account system. No analytics on this first issue. English is the default reading language, and Chinese is a layer on the same pages — navigation, titles, and the short abstracts — rather than a second unfinished copy of every essay. Full Chinese essays can be added when the writing earns them.
Where it stands
The first issue has a front page, three project records, three notes, a reading room, a now page, and an about page. Next: real lab notes on the temperature project, more field notes, and a mailbox at the address published on the about page.
